Veer Mehta is one of the scientists who disappeared from Tsalal Arctic Research Station.
History[]
Mehta and the other scientists at Tsalal were searching for a microoranism in the permafrost that had the potential to reverse aging. Their work was hastened by the mine pollution, which softened the permafrost, allowing them to collect better samples more easily. When Annie Kowtok discovered what they were doing, she started destroying their research. Anders Lund found her and started stabbing her. Her screams attracted the other scientists, who joined the attack. When they were done, Raymond Clark, who had been dating Annie and sat out the attack, went to her. When he saw she was still alive, he smothered her with his t-shirt.[1]
Mehta was pawning his laundry off on Lucas Merens when the power suddenly went off.[2] The women of the town had discovered that the scientists had killed Annie, so they stormed the place. They gathered the scientists, except Clark, who had escaped down the hatch into the ice caves, then drove them out into the wilderness, where they had them strip and then start walking, believing Annie would take them if she wanted them or leave them if she didn't.[1] Their bodies were later found encase in ice.[2]
