Ted Connnelly
History[]
Connelly came to Ennis when he learned that they found the missing scientists from Tsalal buried in ice. He met with Danvers and said he wanted to transfer the case to Anchorage where they had the resources to work on it. Danvers pushed back, citing a law that stated that frozen bodies weren't to be manipulated beyond the necessary until they'd been thawed, which would take two days. Connelly agreed to let her keep the case.
That night, Danvers went to see Connelly at his place and they had sex. Afterward, she said it would be the last time, something they'd been saying for nineteen years. He asked her why she wanted the case so badly and she asked him why he was so determined to keep a lid on it. When he started to threaten her over the case, she got dressed and left.[1]
Connelly returned to Ennis to supervise the bodies being moved to Anchorage. Despite this, he promised he wasn't taking the case away from Danvers. He said he'd sent her to Ennis in the first place because she wasn't right after Jake and Holden, though she believed he was just worried she'd take his job.
That night, she came to his place drunk to have sex, but they got into an argument and he told her no one wanted to work with her because she was still a mess, so she left in anger, despite being drunk.[2]
After a protest at the mine, Connelly called Danvers and told her Kate McKitterick wanted a meeting with her. Danvers was surprised when Connelly said he'd also be in the meeting.
At the meeting, Connelly told Danvers that the forensics had come back on the scientists and they were blaming a slab avalanche, meaning the case was no longer a murder investigation. Danvers talked to him about the connection to Annie K, but he threatened her with the knowledge of what really happened to William Wheeler to keep her silent.
