Ronnie Boyle is a recurring character in Season 3 of True Detective played by Lennon Morgan. Ronnie is a classmate of Will Purcell and the son of James Boyle. On the day that Will and his sister Julie went missing, they had told their father they were going to Ronnie's to see his new puppy. Ronnie had no knowledge of this, having only told them that they could visit but not at a specific time.
In 1980, Ronnie was a classmate of Will Purcell. When Ronnie got a new puppy, he told Will that he could come by and see it sometime. On the night of November 7, Ronnie's father James got a telephone call from Tom Purcell asking if his children were at the Boyle home. Will and his sister Julie were missing and had told their father they were going to Ronnie's to see the new puppy. Ronnie told his father they had not been by the house, nor was he expecting them.
