History[]
After Julia Navarro died, Lou cremated her and put her ashes in an urn, which she then gave to Julia's sister, Evangeline Navarro. In contradiction of policy, she allowed Navarro to watch the cremation, but made her promise not to tell anyone.[1]
When the women of the town, Lou among them, learned that the Tsalal scientists had killed Annie, they gathered together and went out to the station, where they gathered the men, drove them out into the wilderness, forced them to strip, and then sent them out into the snow for Annie to take them or not. When Danvers and Navarro pieced together part of what had happened, Bee told them what had happened, but only in the form of a story, without admitting fault. Danvers and Navarro accepted that and said that forensics showed that a slab avalanche had killed the scientists, meaning the case was officially closed.[2]
