James Boyle is a recurring character in Season 3 of True Detective played by Nick Basta. James is the father of Ronnie Boyle. On the day that Will and Julie Purcell went missing, they had told their father they were going to Ronnie's to see his new puppy. When the children did not return, Tom called James to find out if his children were at his house.
History[]
In 1980, James was at home with his son, Ronnie and their new puppy when Tom Purcell called the house. He was looking for his children, Will and Julie. They had left their house earlier in the day claiming they were going to Ronnie's house to play with the new puppy. James asked Ronnie if the Purcell kids had been to the house, but Ronnie had not seen them. James promised to call Tom if he heard anything about the kids.
