Dewall Ledoux is an accomplice of serial-killer Errol Childress, cousin to Reggie Ledoux, and one of the last active members of the Tuttle Cult.
History[]
Dewall was Reggie's only other relative besides Jimmy, and presumably became involved with the Tuttle cult at an early age alongside his cousin. The two were also friends/associates of bastard child Errol Childress, and the three of them seemed to make up the cult's active manpower.
Dewall, Reggie, and Errol were the main kidnappers of the cult's victims for decades, and were presumably present for many of the group's sacrificial ceremonies at the stone ruins of Carcosa. However, as time passed and the Tuttles began to die off, the three serial-killers were left as the last members to uphold the cult's traditions.
The Ledouxs also became associates of the Iron Crusaders biker gang; Reggie cooking meth exclusively for them, and Dewall assisting him with both cooking and distributing. They continued to rape and murder countless victims over the years with Errol, operating from a compound hidden within a praire, which itself was protected by a network of landmines Dewall laid down.
Events of the Yellow King Case[]
On 3rd January 1995, Dewall, Reggie, and Errol kidnapped and murdered prostitue Dora Lange and staged her body with ornate decorations and symbols associated with the cult.
Dewall later left the compound to meet with Crusaders member Ginger at a bar, who was joined by another biker named Crash.
The three sat down to talk, with Crash proposing a deal between him and Reggie and a group of Mexican drug smugglers to trade their signature meth for cocaine. Ginger vouched for him, but Dewall was skeptical, questioning why the proposal had not been brought to gang president Miles. Crash tried to convince him that the deal would be an easy win for them both, but Dewall shuts the idea down and refuses, seeing no use for the coke to him or Reggie. Crash made a snide remark, angering Dewall into a brief monologue where he claimed to see Crash’s “demons” and the darkness hanging over him, warning Crash if they cross paths again, he'd put him down.
Dewall left the bar and returned to the compound, but he was followed by Marty Hart and Crash (real name Rust Cohle), who was secretly an undercover state police detective hunting the Ledouxs for their connection to Lange's murder. Dewall unknowingly led the detectives right to his doorstep, as they managed to evade the tripwires he had set up and reach the compound's buildings.
He was distracted from most of the confrontation while retrieving some items from a shed, but exited to see Rust holding him at gunpoint, and Reggie handcuffed on his knees. Dewall froze on the spot as Rust tried to arrest him, but they were interrupted when Marty marched outside and point-blank executed Reggie out of rage upon finding two of the Ledouxs' young victims.
Realising Rust had to kill him, Dewall bolted and attempted to make a run for it, but in his panic he accidentally triggered one of the landmines, which detonated right next to him and sliced him in half, killing him.
Rust later delivered a false testimony on the events at the Ledoux compound, though he spoke truthfully about Dewall's fate when mentioned.
