Brett Woodard is a recurring character in Season 3 of True Detective played by Michael Greyeyes. Brett is a Vietnam War veteran who could not make the adjustment to civilian life, resulting in his wife leaving him with their children. Brett makes ends meet by collecting scrap and trash to resell. He saw Will and Julie Purcell prior to their disappearance in 1980. Having become a suspect, he is questioned by Wayne Hays and Roland West.
